Teaching and learning honor, integrity, and responsibility through teamwork, leadership, and self reliance

WELCOME TO BOY SCOUTS AND TROOP 222!

You are about to embark on one of the most exciting and worthwhile adventures that a young man can experience. Scouting is based on the principles of honor, integrity, and responsibility which are taught and learned through teamwork, leadership, and self reliance. Unlike competitive sports programs, in Scouting everyone plays and no one sits on the bench. Scouting allows young men to test their skills and abilities. Scouting is open to all young men regardless of race, religion, national origin, or socio-economic background. It is camping, hiking, sailing, canoeing, rock climbing, biking, and skiing, but it is much, much more.

Parents and Scouting

Parents are strongly encouraged to register as adult leaders. Our troop offers two distinct opportunities for adults. The first is to be an assistant scoutmaster. Our scoutmasters meet weekly with the troop and participate in weekend activities as well as summer camp and high adventure trips. These scoutmasters also serve as mentors for the patrols and act as counselors for merit badges that are earned by the scouts for advancement. The second opportunity is to be a member of the troop committee, our administrative group that meets the first Tuesday of each month. The troop committee has the responsibility of approving the scouts for advancement in rank, maintaining the troop’s financial records and bank account, approving candidates for scoutmasters, and handling fundraising activities. Training is provided for all adults.

Our troop expects all members, boys and adults alike, to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times. As scouts, we strive to live by the Scout Oath and Scout Law. We also expect all members to read and abide by the Good Conduct Pledge, posted in the troop room
