Troop 222 Overview

Teaching and learning honor, integrity, and responsibility through teamwork, leadership, and self reliance

WELCOME TO BOY SCOUTS AND TROOP 222!

You are about to embark on one of the most exciting and worthwhile adventures that a young man can experience. Scouting is based on the principles of honor, integrity, and responsibility which are taught and learned through teamwork, leadership, and self reliance. Unlike competitive sports programs, in Scouting everyone plays and no one sits on the bench. Scouting allows young men to test their skills and abilities. Scouting is open to all young men regardless of race, religion, national origin, or socio-economic background. It is camping, hiking, sailing, canoeing, rock climbing, biking, and skiing, but it is much, much more.

It is an adventure for a lifetime.

Our troop has been sponsored by the Abingdon United Methodist Church for almost 50 years. Twice each year, our Scouts develop a calendar of activities with the approval of the adult leadership. We meet regularly in our troop room at the church each Tuesday evening from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. during the public school year and into the summer. We take a four to six week break from mid July until public school starts again in mid August. During the school year, we meet whether or not school is in session because of inclement weather. We ask parents to use their own judgment of whether their son should attend meetings during inclement weather.
